Nebula Cyclopses – Personal Art Development Project.

Nebula Cyclopses are the descendants of beings from the astral plane, or to be more precise astral beings that have descended to the material plane. It is believed that these creatures have been banished from the astral plane forcing them to shed their original forms and take on the form of the Nebula Cyclopses, creatures much more suited to live on the material plane. However much is lost in this transition and any memories or special powers they once had are lost in the process forcing the Nebula Cyclopses to deal with the same struggles as any other mortal humanoid on the material plane. Still they feel a kinship to the stars and the astral plane and often form groups of nomads travelling long ways to witness cosmic events play out in the starry night sky. Many of these groups also practise a ritual named “the calling”. Where they light several bonfires in the shape of a spiralling star and dance around it holding torches, hoping to signal any relatives that still linger in hiding on the astral plane.

Although banished from the astral plane, before they became Nebula Cyclopses some had the foresight of taking equipment with them that might aid them on the material plane. This mostly consisted of armour and weaponry made from void steel and star silver. Although a few master smiths have been able to reforge and work with these alien materials no one yet knows where they can find or how they could make more of it, making these rare items extremely sought after.
These items aren’t only sought for their scarcity though! Void steel armour is said to allow one to blend with shadows and a blade made from the steel always manages to creep its way through the cracks of any armour. Star Silver armour on the other hand flashes brightly when struck, often blinding one’s opponents. And if one’s struck by a mace of star silver it’s said that the blow feels like it was delivered by three warriors instead of a single opponent.
